“I have been training with Scott for almost 2 years. He is an experienced trainer who really listens. He is personable so the training session is always relaxed. He is very knowledgeable about body systems and incorporates the best exercises (stretch and weights) to help relieve pain in specific problem areas you explain prior to your session to facilitate an overall increase in strength and mobility. Utilizing HIIT training, I have experienced an increase in my cardio endurance and overall strength. The stretches he teaches in his training and encourages me to do every day has helped me achieve a better quality of life. Activities outside of the gym like taking a brisk walk and playing pickleball are easier to do because of the exercises I have learned from Scott. The best part is that I have much less post exercise joint and muscle pain so exercise is a positive experience rather than something I dread. Thank you Scott, you are the best!!!!” -Sue
“I have been working with Scott for almost five months now and have found him to be an exceptional trainer. Aside from providing well thought out and challenging workouts, Scott has been extremely cognizant of injuries I had due to a fall, ensuring workouts are appropriately tailored to avoid further injury. In addition, he has excellent knowledge in what types of exercises and stretches would most benefit me in light of my injuries. In short, I have worked out with numerous trainers, and have found Scott to be one of the best. I appreciate not only the workouts but also his collaborative, kind, and enjoyable personality. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great trainer.” -Carolyn
“I made a New Year’s resolution for 2017 to get back in shape and mostly because of how great Scott is, I am down 20lbs, am much stronger than I was 9 months ago, and all around feel so much better. I have had 4 personal trainers in my 41 years and while all have been beneficial to my health, Scott is hands down the most attentive and in turn I have seen the most results from. Truth be told when I had my 2 free sessions from the club, I looked at the profiles of all the trainers and almost didn’t choose Scott because it said that he liked to train with kettle bells and I have had very bad luck with them and have thrown out my back using them. When I finally decided to meet with Scott I told him and he informed me that while I may have been doing them wrong, he wouldn’t ever make me do something I wasn’t comfortable with and he’s stood by that and actually we’ve done kettle bells multiple times now and I can do them with relative ease because of his coaching. Anyway I just thought that it would be nice for you to know that besides being an awesome club all around, you guys truly have a great trainer and guy amongst you in Scott, and I wouldn’t hesitate a bit to refer him to anyone no matter what level of fitness they were at, as I’m sure he could handle anyone if he can deal with me(haha)- cheers!!” -Christopher Ferriero
“I have been attending the group training sessions at Waverley Oaks on and off for over a year. Scott has been a great teacher guiding me on form, weight, and new exercises. The group sessions are always a fun group of people and I love the energy that Scott brings. He is always focused on giving each person the attention they need while also pushing us and still making sure we are each at our own comfort level. I leave each week feeling like I got a great well rounded work out and am always excited to come back!” -Morgan
“Group training with Scott this past year has made such an improvement in my day to day life, physically and mentally. Scott provides challenging workouts while teaching us proper form, what muscles are being used and why it is important. Scott makes me feel very comfortable when I need to modify exercises or if I have any questions. I also am pushed to my limits which I would not be hitting without a trainer. With group training I have also met an amazing group of ladies that I look forward to work out with weekly. I would recommend group training to anyone at Waverley Oaks! I feel very fortunate to be able to work with Scott and look forward to continue to get even stronger!” – Ashley
“Group Sessions are great if you still want that personal attention, encouragement and support that you would get in working one on one with a personal trainer. But the added benefit is that you can feed off the groups’ energy and push yourself as part of a “team” while still achieving your individual goals. The workout sessions are geared to the size of the group and can be adapted to an individual’s capability – always a great workout!” -Cheryl
“I have worked with personal trainers over the last five years because I truly enjoy having someone to motivate me during my workouts and engage me in a way that makes me want to continue to exercise vigorously on a routine basis. Over a year ago I was considering leaving my previous gym and was strongly considering Waverley Oaks. The key point in joining, though, was finding a trainer that could keep things fresh and get me motivated as I have noted above. After my first session with Scott Mahon I was convinced that we would have a solid connection and that I would be able to benefit from his knowledge, his youth and his matter-of-fact “get down to business” attitude. Well… over a year later we are still going strong as he continues to challenge me on a regular basis. He knows when I’m injured and reconstructs my workouts (sometimes on the fly) to accommodate the injury. And when we need to really taper off on particular exercises we simply do. He will push me as much as I want to be pushed but he is very careful not to overdo it if he thinks it is not in my best interest. When we are working together I always feel like his number one priority. That’s the way you want to feel when you are paying for personal training. Scott has a very broad knowledge of fitness, lifting mechanics, nutrition and overall health. Rounding out things he has a fantastic sense of humor that keeps me very upbeat and always looking forward to my next workout with him. When it comes to personal training Scott Mahon never disappoints.” – Dave
“Training with Scott has been a transformative experience; not only has my body changed, but also my mind. My perspective when first going to Waverley Oaks was biased on “losing weight” and “getting back into the shape I was when in high school.” After training with Scott, I discovered the love of the burn and the joy and fun that working your body can bring! I now love challenging myself with difficult lifts and routines.
Working with Scott has most importantly, for the first time in my life, helped with my self-love and confidence. I am finally able to live my life no longer counting macros or worrying about trying to get a workout it. I live my new life smart and safe all thanks to Scott’s guidance.” -Audrey
“I’ve been working with Scott for just under a year, initially through personal training and for the last 6 months with small group training. What I love most about working in a small group is the camaraderie and friendly competitiveness that always makes me push myself to complete that final rep or not give up during the last few seconds when I otherwise would have. There’s something about looking up and seeing the other women in group struggling and laughing right along with me that can get me through any exercise! The saying misery loves company has never been more true but in the best way possible. Small group training has also helped create a smaller more intimate community for me and create connections; something I had missed when I left my previous workout studio.
Scott’s kind and easy going personality mixed with his encouraging coaching style is incredibly motivating. He’s attentive and gets to know your body’s strengths and limitations to individualize his approach to push you throughout the workout. Scott has the skill and passion to help me meet my own goals and give the personalized attention that you do not get in larger group classes, all for a more affordable price than personal training. Since working with him, I’ve been crushing my goals and gaining strength beyond anything I could have imagined in such a short period of time. The strength and confidence I’ve gained has carried over to all aspects of my life. If you are thinking of joining group training, I highly recommend working with Scott. You will not regret it!” -Mel
